Governors Papers Finding Aids

Advance notice is required to access Governors’ Papers. These records may contain confidential or restricted information and archivists must review them prior to providing access. These records are complex, so review may take time depending on the scope of the request. Researchers are encouraged to submit specific, narrowly defined requests, including date ranges and/or subjects, to facilitate timely access. Please contact us at archives@dncr.nc.gov.

Each governor is listed in the tabs below. The primary link for each governor directs to the landing page for that governor’s papers in the Discover Online Catalog (DOC). Click on “Child Records” to see a listing of records available for each governor.

Some governor’s papers have separate finding aids, for the whole of the collection or for specific parts (series). Additional finding aids that previously appeared on the website are undergoing revisions as they are added into the catalog. During this revision process, please contact us at archives@dncr.nc.gov to request a specific finding aid or for more in-depth reference requests.
