Collections The State Archives of North Carolina collects, preserves, and makes available for public use historical and evidential materials relating to North Carolina. In all, the Archives houses over 50,000 linear feet of permanently valuable materials containing millions of individual items. Academic Records Student academic and financial aid records of defunct proprietary, church-supported, or other non-public post-secondary schools and colleges in North Carolina. Audiovisual Materials Photographic negatives, print photograph and image collections, audio recordings, motion picture films, and other moving image media. Bible Records Photocopied or digitized copies of family information pages from privately held Bibles. Maps Manuscript and published maps depicting North Carolina or some portion thereof, as well as maps featuring other geographic areas. Military Collections Records relating to the military heritage and veterans of North Carolina from 1742 to the present. Newspapers Microfilm copies of newspapers that, for the most part, are no longer being published. Oral Histories The Oral History Unit gathers oral histories from around the state in coordination with department goals and campaigns. Organization Records Records of many of the state's private, professional, or civic organizations. Private Collections Papers and records of individuals, families, businesses, and other entities.
