The Spring 2026 internship positions are listed below. Be sure to expand and read the descriptions of each internship that you are interested in. The Internship Application opens Saturday, November 15th at 8AM. Please fill out the Internship Application by the end of day on December 1st, 2025.

Section: Special Collections, Oral History Unit
Description: The intern will assist the Oral Historian in the description and arrangement of the collection. This includes metadata clean up, summarization, and finding aid creation. The intern will also work with the creation and editing of transcriptions. The goal of the internship is to increase overall interview accessibility and support digital uploading.
Major Tasks Involved:
•    This position will include indexing, transcribing, metadata work, and summarization. 
•    A blog will be required as well as a presentation at the conclusion of the internship. 
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in public history or similar, minimum. Working toward a master’s degree in public history or library science preferred. The position would require students to work with digital access, transcription, and indexing. Some oral history experience preferable.
Estimated hours: 10-20 hours/week

Section: Special Collections / Outreach & Development / Government Records / Public Services 
Description: Connecting the Docs is currently in its sixth season. In this internship, the intern will help the Podcast Team conduct research in collections for the planned episodes of Season six and seven as well as assist with writing and recording at least one episode for the season. If the intern has an interest in audio editing, they will have the opportunity to edit audio for both seasons 6 and 7, as well.
Major Tasks Involved: 
•    This position will include indexing, transcribing, metadata work, and summarization. 
•    A blog will be required as well as a presentation at the conclusion of the internship. 
Qualifications: Undergraduate or graduate student in communications, mass media, history, social sciences, or any other field where research skills are emphasized. Candidates with experience or interest in audio engineering are welcome. 
Estimated hours: 10-20 hours/week

Section: Private Collections, Special Collections Section 
Description: This intern will work with the Private Collection Archivist in processing collections, managing digital content and outreach efforts.  
Major Tasks Involved:  
•    Reprocessing  
•    Processing new collections, including arranging, describing and accessioning materials; rehousing collection materials; assisting with digital outreach communications and programs; and assisting with any other department projects. 
Qualifications: Seeking an undergraduate or graduate student in history, public history, library science, social sciences, or any other field where research skills are emphasized.
Estimated hours: 10hrs/week, 15 weeks
