The N.C. Digital Heritage Center will host a free webinar, “How to Work with the Digital Heritage Center,” Monday, Jan. 24, 10-11 a.m.

The State Library and State Archives of North Carolina will host a virtual program, “North Carolina Trivia Night,” Thursday, Jan. 27, 6-7:30 p.m.Think you’re an expert on North Carolina history, geography, and culture? Here's your chance to show off your skills! On January 27, 2022, at 6 p.m., players can participate — as individuals or in teams — from their homes, as we present fascinating trivia about the Old North State. Bragging rights are on the line in this Carolina contest of wits! We look forward to seeing you there.

To help limit the spread of COVID-19 in our communities, the State Archives of NC in Raleigh, Outer Banks History Center (OBHC) in Manteo, and Western Regional Archives (WRA) in Asheville will be closed from Jan. 4-15. All three locations will reopen to the public on Jan. 18, after the Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. The State Archives of North Carolina will host a virtual roundtable, “Holiday Flavors of the Past,” Tuesday, Dec. 14, 7-8:00 p.m. State Archives staff will share stories about holiday foods from the collection including the tradition of Old Christmas in Rodanthe and its foodways, holiday feasts on military bases, and 150-year-old recipes that can become DIY holiday gifts. Panelists will include Samantha Crisp, Director of the Outer Banks History Center; Matthew Peek, Military Collection Archivist; and Callie Beattie, Intern.

Starting Nov. 8, 2021, Search Room hours will be Tuesday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (closed Sunday and Monday). Also note the Search Room will be closed Thursday, Nov. 11 for Veteran’s Day.

The State Archives of North Carolina will host a virtual roundtable, “Spooky Stories,” Tues., October 26, 7-8:30 p.m. Help us conjure the Halloween spirit! Join in to listen to stories of ghosts, werewolves, mayhem, and mystery from the State Archives' collections of documents and images.
