To help limit the spread of COVID-19 in our communities, the State Archives of NC in Raleigh, Outer Banks History Center (OBHC) in Manteo, and Western Regional Archives (WRA) in Asheville will be closed from Jan. 4-15. All three locations will reopen to the public on Jan. 18, after the Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Due to more personnel working onsite, State Archives public research spaces in Raleigh, the Western Regional Archives in Asheville and the Outer Banks History Center are expanding its hours of operations.
Governor Cooper signed Executive Order 215 which went into effect at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, 5/14/2021, lifting face covering requirements and other emergency restrictions in most indoor settings with face coverings being strongly recommended for non-vaccinated individuals.  Due to these changes, State Archives public research spaces in Raleigh, the Western Regional Archives in Asheville and the Outer Banks History Center are revising the operations implemented on November 12, 2020.
