Copy Request Form

Researchers have the option to fill out the copy request form. The type of research that can be requested by mail from the State Archives is limited to those questions that can be answered by consulting a specific record. The Archives is neither authorized nor staffed to engage in genealogical research. If you have a question about the feasibility or cost of a search, please email us at archives@dncr.nc.gov. For other research projects, please consult our approved list of independent researchers.

Information on Fees

In-State Patrons: No fee is due upfront for us to perform a search for a record. To order copies, the fee is $2 for up to twenty pages, and $0.10 per page after. The $2 fee also covers 4 color scans. 

Out-of-State Patrons: A $20 upfront fee is due to perform a search for a record, and that fee also covers copies up to twenty pages, and $0.10 per page after. The $20 fee also covers 4 color scans.
