The Soldier's and Native American Experience, a One-Day Wonder Event

On August 12, visit the Harnett County Public Library in Lillington for a dual presentation on examining the Revolutionary War from two different groups of North Carolinians. Starting at 10 a.m. the One-Day Wonder traveling exhibit, The Soldier's Experience examines what the war was like for the average soldier utilizing original documents from the archives, including recruitment and service records, records on the defense of North Carolina, compensation records, and documents that illustrate the challenges of supplying an army. And at 11 a.m., Pulitzer Prize winner and UNC historian Kathleen DuVal speaks on the diverse experiences of Native Americans in North Carolina and how their choices shaped the nation's history.
