The meeting will be followed by David Moore's presentation "Two Decades Before the Mast: A Brief Glimpse into the History and Archeology of the Pirate Blackbeard and his Flagship Queen Anne's Revenge." The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
This lecture entails two parts, historical and archaeological. The first comprises a historical synopsis of the infamous pirate captain Edward Thatch, aka Blackbeard, his activities, associates, and adversaries. The second discusses the excavation and archaeological efforts undertaken on the submerged remains of his flagship, Queen Anne's Revenge, off Beaufort Inlet, North Carolina, over the past two decades.
