State Agency Schedules
State agency officials have two types of retention and disposition schedules to assist them in the management of the records in their office. They are:
The General Schedule for State Agency Records addresses records commonly found in agencies throughout state government, provides uniform descriptions and disposition instructions, and indicates minimum retention periods. Records listed on the General schedule may not be transferred to the State Records Center without a specially-granted exception. Therefore, it must be used in conjunction with a Program Records Retention and Disposition Schedule.
Your program records disposition schedule lists those program-specific records maintained in your office as reported to the Division of Archives and Records. Official, signed copies of all schedules are maintained by the Government Records Section. It lists only those records that are unique to your office, whether they are to be destroyed in your office or transferred to the State Records Center. When changes to the program schedule are required, complete the Amendment to Program Records Retention and Disposition Schedule Request form or the New Records Series Request for Program Records Retention and Disposition Schedule form, and submit it to your Records Management Analyst.
